Background

Third Sector organisations can apply for Bond Places to raise funds exclusively and directly for their own causes by entering teams in the 2016 Caledonian Challenge; Scotland's premier outdoor fundraising event that takes place in the Scottish Highlands annually.

Over 18,000 participants have taken up the Challenge to date raising over £14 million to support the work of Foundation Scotland; the country's busiest grantmaker. To mark the event's 20th year, the organisers have launched Third Sector Bond Places enabling charities to offer the Challenge as part of their own fundraising drive.

The weekend of 11-12 June offers participants the choice of two Challenges, both taking in some of the UK's most iconic scenery: THE 54 is the ultimate physical and mental endurance test - 54 miles in 24 hours over rugged terrain; starting on the Great Glen Way, taking in the majestic sight of Ben Nevis, following the West Highland Way south and finishing at Strathfillan near Tyndrum. THE 24 is no walk in the park, tough but achievable - 24 miles in 12 hours; starting in Glen Nevis, following the West Highland Way south, taking on the infamous Devil's Staircase and finishing in stunning Glen Coe.

Whether participating teams of fundraisers comprise family members, friends or colleagues, they will feel a real sense of achievement from raising funds for a cause close to their hearts, as well as being able to say they have completed one of the biggest and best known charity challenges in the country.
