The Challenge

54 miles is more than two full marathons back-to-back and the equivalent of approximately two ascents of Ben Nevis – all without sleep. It is tough. But it is achievable.

People from all walks of life and of all shapes and sizes take part. Just about anyone with the right training and preparation, a good team and a positive attitude can successfully complete the course. And we will support you every step of the way.

The Benefits

Walking is the healthiest form of exercise. And the Challenge provides the perfect target for any exercise regime. You have all spring and early summer to prepare for the event. What’s more you will be training with friends who will help you to stick to your plan and raising funds to help others, so you will have every motivation to succeed.

Training

Don’t worry! You won’t have to spend every waking hour between now and next June in the gym. Since the event’s inception in 1996, more than 12,000 people have successfully taken part in the event. Participants from all walks of life, from the busiest CEO to the most put upon housewife has managed to successfully fit in enough training into their hectic schedule.

Once your team has confirmed its participation, we will provide you with training guidance to help you succeed.  We recommend that approximately three weeks before the event you are able to walk 20 miles in a day on two consecutive days.
